Catalogue index: J15302
Description
KATSUOBUSHI is dried Bonito fish flakes, 500 g. Dried and smoked Bonito fish is a basic ingredient of Japanese "dashi" broth. Along with konbu seaweed, dried shiitake, and anchovies, it creates the "umami" base for miso soup, fish soups, ramen, or sweet tamago dashi omelet. Bonito fish, or striped tuna, is a resident of warm seas and oceans in the subtropical zone. It is eagerly consumed in East Asia - Indonesia, Vietnam, China, and of course Japan. In the Land of the Rising Sun, it is consumed in the form of sashimi and sushi, but the most common version is the dried, smoked, and fermented one known as Katsuobushi.
