Galangal is a spice originating from Indonesia, resembling ginger in appearance. It is primarily used in Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese cuisine, particularly in soups and curries. Although it resembles ginger (and is related to it), its flavor is entirely different – it has a citrus-peppery taste, sharper than ginger, and lacks its warming properties.
