Château LaTour-Martillac is one of the most recognizable estates in the Pessac - Leognan appellation, named after the tower rising in the main courtyard of the castle – a remnant of the 12th-century defensive castle belonging to the Montesquieu family. In those times, the building had strategic importance and controlled the road between Bordeaux and Toulouse. Stones from these fortifications were used at the end of the 18th century to build the current castle. A wonderfully distinguished red Bordeaux with a deep color and a fantastically complex nose, where dried flowers, blackberries, black cherries, forest berries, tobacco, smoke, and a hint of cocoa and pepper can be sensed. On the attack, it is soft and silky, developing on the palate offering fullness and harmony, an excellent balance between tannins and freshness, as well as a wonderfully long, clean, and elegant finish. It should age well. To be enjoyed between 2025 and 2040. Pair with ribeye steak Bordelaise, beef Wellington, braised lamb, game, duck confit, and aged cheeses.
