Pesto alla genovese – a green sauce originating from Genoa in Italy, with basil as its main ingredient. Traditionally made in marble mortars
with oil, basil, parmesan or another finely grated hard cheese, pine nuts, and salt.
Pesto has a wide range of uses and is the base for many sauces for pasta, salads, cheese, meats, soups, pizza, and pairs excellently with bread.
